On Engineering Cynicism, comments by Dave Winer and Scott Rosenberg. I disagree: I've known many engineers who are stupid, selfish and greedy, just plain and simply bad people. These generalizations are note very accurate (Caveats from Weinberger notwhistanding). As "engineering" becomes as common as "coffee shop owner" the types of people into it grow until we get the same variety as in society in general. "You can't lie to the compiler?" no, but for some vermin, lying to your coworkers and employees is a piece of cake.
