small movabletype tipI just discovered that my RSS feeds where publishing my email unencoded. The culprit turned out to be an <$MTEntryAuthorEmail$>. As the MT Template manual explains here, this can be easily solved by adding a spam_protect parameter, as follows: <$MTEntryAuthorEmail spam_protect="1"$>. Useful and simple. With no economic incentive, how long would it take you to write a crawler that wouldn't be fooled by that simple encoding? How about if it was your business to ferret out addresses? Or, more accurately, your business to write code better able to ferret out email addresses than the other guy's code? But I guess my thinking is that it can't hurt to make it just a little bit more difficult... Posted by: Diego at March 20, 2004 5:01 PMCopyright © Diego Doval 2002-2007.
