firefox weirdnessI've been using FireFox for quite a while now, but suddenly something strange started happening: if I'm editing something on the browser (say, a post), and I do a "preview" I used to be able to press the back button and continue editing. Now, though, when I press the back button the form contents are wiped out. I can press "forward" though and the contents are re-posted, so they're still in there somewhere. Strange. I'm pretty sure I didn't change any settings on the browser. I wonder why this started happening... Did you change any settings on the server, then? That sounds like it's not being cached (or being evicted too quickly), since restoring forms on Back depends rather heavily on the cached DOM (see an entire string of bugs in the Core product as people doing work try to escape from the noise of users telling them to get better *now* or helpfully explaining for the 42nd time how much better Opera does). The only browser side setting that ought to affect it is browser.cache.check_doc_frequency (well, unless you shrank the cache size to nothing, which you would remember doing). Posted by: Phil Ringnalda at February 2, 2005 4:35 PMPhil, thanks for the idea, but the server can't have anything to do with it because it's happening on two different systems, with Wordpress and MT. However, your mention of the cache is intriguing. I *cleared* the cache the other day, not reduce its size to zero... mmmm.... Posted by: Diego at February 2, 2005 8:09 PMYeah I do that all the time on my workstation and laptop. Posted by: Brian at February 4, 2005 3:44 PMPost a comment
